NEHA supports developing students seeking a career in environmental health by providing two types of internship programs and a working committee that focuses on student engagement in the environmental health workforce.
Students enrolled at an EHAC accredited school are eligible to apply for the National Environmental Public Health Internship Program (NEPHIP).
All other students are eligible to apply for the NEHA Student Internship Program.
The NEHA Student Internship Program encourages outstanding undergraduate and graduate students to consider careers in environmental health in an academic or industry setting by providing training and education opportunities. Student Interns will learn about NEHA’s work; gain valuable insight and experience in environmental health; and support initiatives in environmental health science, policy, marketing and social media, and more.
NEHA is headquartered in Denver, CO with a satellite location in Washington, D.C. Internships are open year-round and based on project availability.
NEHA administers the National Environmental Public Health Internship Program (NEPHIP) is supported by CDC's National Center for Environmental Health through cooperative agreement CDC-RFA-OT18-1802.
Newly revised and expanded for 2022, the NEPHIP is a workforce initiative that supports the establishment of qualified applicant pipelines to help meet current and future environmental health professional workforce needs across the nation and encourages environmental health students to consider careers at state, tribal, local, or territorial (STLT) environmental public health departments following graduation.
